Loitering Around Trains

I feel like a lot of my time is spent in between places, mid-transit and waiting. So many hours are spent inside and outside train stations dawdling, waiting for trains, buses, taxis, people and the slow workers at Hungry Jacks to give me my damn small orange juice already. A lot of late nights after uni end up with me sitting dazed and sleepy on a near empty platform underground with the lovely fluorescent lights and a creepy man (there is always a creepy man) to keep me company.

Dumping of random photos I don't know what to do with!

Sorry, in hindsight most of these are actually kind of depressing.

ALSO, I made a formspring account awhile ago and forgot about it until now, so shoot some questions, say horrible things, nice things or spam (please don't) me HERE :)

  1. Gorgeous photos, as always! You really do have an amazing eye for detail and angles, and especially for capturing movement at the perfect moment. I especially love the Big Deal one. :D

I know what you mean about feeling like you're constantly in-between, or mid-transit. I feel like I'm always in between and waiting for something, and I worry that I'm never going to stop waiting...

  2. likewise! i find it most relaxing when i am alone. then i can daydream on the hour+ long commute back home.

i also spend my time critiquing (most often really bad) advertisements. the ads in your subway look HUGE! the ones in toronto are kind of just...normal poster size (whatever normal is). ..just small(er).

  3. Love depressing pictures haha well they're not completely depressing but i like the shades and the colours of them :) Much better than boring Adelaide which i live in -_-"

  4. These photos are awesome anyway. Glad you shared em with us! What camera do you use? :) Also, I feel the same way about staying in between places.. same with this pictures.. dunno what to really do with it..:)

  6. GREAT photos. I feel the same way! I feel like I am always waiting for the subway. I should take a note from you and start photographing my lone waitings.

  7. yeahhh why so depressing for annieeee? :P haha nah they're not depressing at all! they're very artistic and remind me of movies.. there always seems to be a ny subway/london tube scene isnt there..

  10. @ Gilian, the photos in this post were taken with a Canon 40d :)

  11. Life lately is a series of departures and arrivals.

  12. ... I keep looking back, wondering why you think they are depressing?

The last two are perhaps more solemn. I guess it just has to do with the sense of constant travel, of seeing something that is constantly in motion and is traveling faster, ever faster, and it is out of your control. You have no control over how fast it moves, when it is going to stop ... if it is going to stop.

I would say that it is a nice compilation of photos, though. It is a collection of things that you--and perhaps only you--takes notice of. Personally? My two favorites are the train photos in the middle.

  13. Yes, there's always a creepy/crazy people in the train.
